Exercise 5.1 — Match each scene with the first safe action.
| # | Scene | Correct action | Justification |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Office: a co-worker burns her hand with hot water | Cool with clean, cold water compresses | “Cooling reduces the damage. Ice and ointments can make it worse.” |
| 2 | Warehouse: a worker twists an ankle | Rest and immobilize | “The area must not carry weight. Do not massage it or apply ointments.” |
| 3 | Plant: a worker falls and his arm looks deformed | Immobilize without resetting the bone | “Moving or resetting the bone can make the injury and the pain worse.” |
| 4 | Workshop: a metal object is stuck in a leg | Secure the object with pads and bandages; do not remove it | “Removing it can cause more damage and bleeding.” |
| 5 | Meeting room: smoke comes in from the hallway | Evacuate staying low, covering mouth and nose | “Staying low helps you avoid the smoke, and cloth gives some protection.” |
| 6 | Business trip: a colleague is still disoriented days after an emergency | Direct them to the mental health line | “Disorientation is a sign to get help immediately.” |
Exercise 5.2 — Comparison with nuance (2 clips). (a) A worker stops his activity, uses the stairs, follows the route and tells the coordinator that a co-worker is missing. (b) Another worker leaves quickly, but goes back for her bag, takes the elevator and stops on the route to talk.
Question: “Which procedure is safer and why? Would you do anything differently at your own workstation?”
Response guide: option (a) is safer. The learner should justify the answer and connect it to their role. There is no single correct wording.
